Setting up a Conan Exiles server

Join your server

The first start downloads Conan Exiles from Steam. It is a big download, so allow ten minutes or so. Watch the Console tab. When it stops scrolling, your server is ready.

In the game, go to Play Online and search for your name, or use Direct Connect. The address and port are at the top of your server page in the panel.

The basic settings

On the Startup tab: Server Name and Server Password. Restart after changing them.

Rates and rules

Edit ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/ServerSettings.ini with the server stopped. It has PvP, harvest rates, XP and AdminPassword.

Be an admin

In game, go to Settings, then Server Settings, and enter your admin password. Press Insert for the admin panel.

Mods

Upload .pak files to ConanSandbox/Mods and list their names in modlist.txt, one per line.

Problems

It takes a while to show

Private servers can take a few minutes. Use Direct Connect meanwhile.

Players get a mod mismatch

Update the .pak files when a mod updates.

My ini edits disappear

Stop the server before editing.
