Setting up an Abiotic Factor server

Join your server

The first start downloads Abiotic Factor from Steam, so it takes a few minutes. Watch the Console tab. When it stops scrolling, your server is ready.

In the game, choose Play, then Join, and search for your server name.

The basic settings

Change these on the Startup tab, then restart.

[SERVER] Server NameThe name in the list.
[SERVER] Server PasswordEmpty lets anyone join.
[SERVER] Number of PlayersHow many can join.

Game rules

Difficulty and survival settings are in AbioticFactor/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/SandboxSettings.ini. Stop the server first. 1.0 is normal, 2.0 is double.

Bring your own world

  1. On your PC, open %localappdata%\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames, your Steam ID folder, then Worlds.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Upload your world folder to AbioticFactor/Saved/SaveGames/Server/Worlds in the File Manager.
  4. Start the server.

Problems

It is not in the list

Give it a few minutes after the first start.

Friends cannot join after an update

Restart the server so it updates.

My ini changes do nothing

Some settings only apply to new worlds.
