Setting up an American Truck Simulator server

Updated 4 Nov 2026

Get a Steam token

Without a token, your server gets a new session every restart.

  1. Go to steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers.
  2. Enter 270880 as the App ID.
  3. Paste the token into Steam Auth token on the Startup tab and restart.

Add the server packages

The server needs two files made by the game on your PC.

  1. In the game, open the console and type export_server_packages.
  2. Find server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat in Documents\American Truck Simulator.
  3. Stop the server and upload both to .local/share/American Truck Simulator in the File Manager.
  4. Start the server.

Join your server

In the game, go to Convoy, then Join, and search for your Lobby name.

Other settings

Edit .local/share/American Truck Simulator/server_config.sii for the password, max_players (up to 8) and moderators.

Problems

It cannot find server_packages

Upload both files to the folder above. They must match the server version.

Players are missing DLC

Export the packages from a game that only has the DLC your group owns.

The session keeps changing
